KILIMANJARO

Tanzania provides the ultimate all-encompassing African adventure! Where cultural exchange through volunteering abroad and active outdoor adventures go hand in hand.

Make a contribution to improving education for children living in Arusha.  Visit one of three schools where you’ll visit classrooms K-3, meet the principal and see the current library which is virtually non-existant.  With the help of dozens of children living and being supported by the Tacoda Boys Home, you’ll spend your next day assembling reading booklets for the mobile library  program dedicated to the education of kids.  On day three you’ll wrap up the project and celebrate during a closing ceremony with food, fun and games.

Spend 7-days climbing the Machame Route of Kilimanjaro. Composed of three separate volcanoes, Kilimanjaro covers an area 60 miles long and 40 miles wide.  This popular route follows steep paths leading to the Lava Tower (14,850’) and Great Barranco Wall, ending with a summit of Uhuru Peak at 19,370 feet.  Connect with your guides, chefs and porters along the way, adding another cultural component to your African experience.  Bond with your fellow travelers when you share this unique endeavor and create memories to last you a lifetime.

Safari may be purchased as an add-on to make your African adventure complete.  Explore the magic of Lake Manyara or Ngorongoro Crater.  Talk to your PLAY it Forward representative for details.

Personalize Kilimanjaro by combining your desire to climb with your ability to help.
