COSTA RICA
Known as the multisport adventure capital of Central America, Costa Rica has much to offer adventure travelers from around the world.
Begin your adventure in cozy La Fortuna where the giving back begins. Stay at a locally owned and operated eco-lodge promising comfort and tranquility, not to mention its stunning view of Volcan Arenal. Overcome a fear of heights while canyoneering as you repel down cliffs and alongside 200′ waterfalls. (Rest assured canyoning is safe and doable by all ages.) Stay in your bathing suit to kayak the waters of Lake Arenal where you’ll soak up rays and watch for Howler monkeys. Take a late morning mountain bike tour near the base of Arenal Volcano and experience a Liquid Lava tour in the evening. End this exciting outdoor adventure on a Sky Trek where you’ll zipline from mountain to mountain at speeds of 40 mph on cables as high as 2500′!
Show gratitude to Costa Rica for all her offerings by volunteering in Colonia Libertad, a remote village in the north near the Nicaraguan border. Owned and operated by local agriculturalists, a beautiful macadamia and flower plantation awaits you. Swing in a hammock on the porch of your hand crafted cabin , enjoy homemade meals prepared by local women, and participate in afternoon yoga overlooking gardens and mystic volcanoes. Begin your experience with a finca tour that supports small local businesses and gives you a lay of the land. Spend your next two days making improvements to the community in various ways. Call the PLAY it Forward office for details about individual service projects offered on each tour.
Your Costa Rica adventure wouldn’t be all-encompassing without a visit to the beach. End with a reflection day at beautiful Playa Potrero. Wade in the pool or lay by the beach, but don’t miss the stunning sunset this destination has to offer.
Join us for a unique Costa Rican experience where outdoor adventure meets a meaningful volunteer vacation.
