Guatemala provides the perfect backdrop for a multisport adventure, cultural experience and a volunteer vacation!

Being our signature trip, PLAY it Forward has operated eight trips to Guatemala since fall 2008. We’ve gotten to know the Mayan culture up close and personal during nine or ten day adventures while we build homes or energy efficient stoves for local families. Biking around Antigua Valley, climbing and camping on Pacaya volcano, hiking and kayaking at Lake Atitlan are just some of the activities we do during our multisport adventures.

9-day Itinerary

Day 1: Antigua – Arrive as close to noon as possible, free day in Antigua, orientation

Day 2: Antigua Valley – Bike Antigua Valley, visit villages & markets, lunch at Women’s Coop

Day 3: Alotenango- Begin construction of stoves for Mayan families

Day 4: Alotenango - Build energy efficient stoves for Mayan families

Day 5: Alotenango - Complete energy efficient stoves, closing ceremony with the community

Day 6: Lake Atitlan- Transfer to Panajachel for shopping and lunch, boat ride to hotel

Day 7: Lake Atitlan- Kayak to San Marcos, hike back to the hotel, yoga on the patio

Day 8: Lake Atitlan – Hike the “City of Stairs”, transfer back to Antigua, final dinner

Day 9: Guatemala City – Depart as close to noon as possible
